Functions
1. Can non-members hire the venue? No, but non-members can become social members and enjoy hall-hire privledges. Social memberships are modestly priced and are a special-limited membership. Call our office for details.
2. When will my booking be confirmed? The hirer must sign the ‘Terms and Conditions of Hire’ and return this with the deposit within 14 days of the booking to have the booking confirmed.
3. Can I provide my own beverages for my function? NO. Nedlands Yacht Club is a licensed premise and no beverages of any kind can be brought onto the Club for consumption.
4. What are your bar hours? We are licensed to serve alcohol until midnight.(24.00 hours).
5. How much will it cost me if I cancel the function? If you cancel less than 7 days prior to the event the total hire fee is payable. If you cancel less than 40 days prior to the event 30% of the total hire fee is payable.
Membership
1. Do I have to be a member to obtain storage at NYC? Yes you must be a sailing member. Storage fees are detailed at the bottom of the Membership page.
2. Do you have a family membership? Yes. Refer to the Membership page for family sailing membership details.
3. I am going away for 12 months. Can I retain my membership without paying for a full year’s membership fee? A special leave of absence can be applied for from Sailing Management.
4. Do members get a reduced rate when hiring the function room. Yes there is a reduced rate which can be obtained from the office. All functions must be booked through the Managing Secretary.
Sailing
1. Can non-members sail in Sunday races at Nedlands Yacht Club? Yes, but for only three races plus Invitation Races. "Try Sailing! Sail three times for free."
2. When do you race? On Sundays from October to April, excepting long weekends. Racing starts at 1.30 pm. Most races finish around 5 pm depending on wind speed and conditions.
3. What qualifications do I need to drive a support boat? You need to have your Skippers Certificate, and a current First Aid Certificate is desirable. We offer First Aid training to our members and volunteers at the beginning of each season.
4. What sort of boats do you sail? Boats include Tornados, NACRAs, Windrush, Hobie 16s, Hobie Tigers, Formula 16, Formula 18, National 125, Flying 11, Manlys, Cruisers, Trailer Sailers and Sports Boats such as the Elliot 7.
