2017 Australian Schools Team Championship
The 2017 Australian Secondary Schools Team Championships at Nedlands – a great success
Congratulations to all the teams that competed at the 2017 Australian Secondary Schools Team Championships. Exceptional teenagers from around Australia entertained spectators with some fantastic sailing across the 4 days.
Scots College NSW first team won the open division, in a close grand final series against their sparing partners of Scots College second team. Third place went to The Friends School open team from Tasmania defeating Scotch College W.A. in the minor final.
The women’s championship was won by The Friends School in a tight contest against Ascham School of NSW.
Final placings and all race results can be found here.
Nedlands Yacht Club offered the perfect venue for the 26 teams of 180 competitors. Racing was close to the shore allowing easy viewing for spectators, managers and coaches. Awesome photos, both on and off water can be found here. Thanks to Jennifer Medd – a dedicated volunteer – for the bulk of these photos.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers and the Race Committee. An event of this size would not happen without your help and dedication. A big thanks also to team managers, coaches, teachers and parents for organising the teams for the regatta.
A special thank you to our main sponsor Monkeyfist for your support of both the State and National regattas.
The awesome hand made trophies were kindly supplied by Christ Church Grammar School and Geoff McGillivray.
