Tackers (7-12 years old): Encouraging kids aged 7-12 years old to get active, be social and fun with our Tackers School Holiday Program. 4-5 days during the School Holidays (8.30am -12.30am) Nedlands Yacht Club offers Australian Sailing certified “Tackers” courses to engage and support little tackers into the social sport of sailing. Each course comprises of a series of lessons conducted during school holiday mornings in the beautiful and protected waters of the Swan River. The wind is typically light to moderate in the mornings and great for learning how to sail.
NYC uses Australian Sailing accredited instructors and we provide all course specific equipment, including Optimist training dinghies and Personal Flotation Devices (life jackets) for all attendees. Students will receive a Australian Sailing logbook to track course progress. The logbook can be used at NYC or any club that teaches Australian Sailing certified courses.

- Cost includes all training equipment and junior sailing membership to NYC
- Maximum of 18 students

What’s next for kids?
- Tackers 2 – Tricks & Techniques. If kids are confident, they can sail a boat on their own with lots of support, supervision and encouragement from the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.
- Explore Sailing – Sunday mornings each week where students can build competitive sailing skills and race with other junior members
Non-sailing friends and family are welcome to enjoy the facility and bring food before, during and after class. Free parking. Public playground and skatepark adjacent to boat storage yard. Free barbeque access available by reservation.

What’s next for kids?
- Tackers 3 – Sailing Fast. This is a chance for the kids to sail boats on their own, learning how to make the boat go faster and playing more games, all whilst still under the guidance and supervision of the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.

Refund Policy
If NYC cancels the session we will refund the registration fees in full for both online and paper registrations, including bank and processing fees.
If you cancel a registration, the fee paid less the bank and processing fees will be refunded.
